Batten disease is a fatal rare neurological degenerative disease that affects children of all ages. This disease currently has no treatment or cure. Batten Disease Research and Support Association supports programs, services and research in the fight against Batten disease... and our dogs benefit too!
Because canines and humans share much of the same genome, research on canine disease applies to people as well. Many breeds of dogs also carry the genetic markers for Batten disease and research is currently underway to help both our dogs, and children live longer, healthier lives.
